In 1970 George Washington Walker developed a quaternary sanitizing tablet known as Santimine 150. He started manufacturing and selling the product from a small garage in Baltimore, Maryland and sold it directly to food and beverage distributors. In 1976 he leased a larger facility and maintained control of his company until he suffered a stroke in 1987.
At that time George's son, Robert A. Walker, Sr. took the reins of the company. He started to sell Santimine 150 to other states and industries and relocated the plant to another facility in Baltimore, Maryland. Robert A. Walker, Sr. developed Alzheimer's disease in 1996, forcing him to stop working. Unfortunately, he lost the battle with Alzheimers disease and past away in April 2004.
Since then, Robert A. Walker, Jr. has kept the family tradition thriving and in 1999 he moved the manufacturing plant to a newer, bigger, and better facility. He built a more appropriate climate control chemical room to manufacture a fine quality tablet all year around. In addition, he created office spaces to maintain and support customer service. We are hopeful that in the future one of Bob's three daughters will assume responsibilty for the company.
